”Antigone is a tragedy,” says Steven Hill, Artistic Director of Leaky Heaven, and director of antigone undone. “A life on the edge of the abyss. But in our story, the tragedy is the backdrop to the bumbling minutae of everyday existence. How do we go on as the world crumbles; what is the relation between the monumental and the mundane?”
Following in the footsteps of their past productions, Leaky continues its exploration into grotesque realism and playing with images. Their innovative and theatrically ingenious shows have made them the darling of the critics and audiences alike, and garnered them numerous Jessie awards. antigone undone follows the tradition of shows like last year’s dark, witty and brilliant A Bone In Her Teeth.
antigone undone previews May 13 and 14, and opens May 15 at 8 pm. It will run nightly (except Mondays), through until May 14.
Tickets are $18/20, except for Tuesday, May 19, which is pay-what-you-can, and the previews, which are half price.
Tickets are available through Tickets Tonight: 604.684.2787 or www.ticketstonight.ca.
Advance reservations are strongly recommended, as the space is small, and audience size is limited.
All performances take place at the Leaky Heaven Studio, which is accessed through a staircase at the back of the Russian Hall, 600 Campbell Ave.
