Don’t whistle in the theatre, refrain from uttering lines from the play, and never say ‘Macbeth’… a few rules that the teen actors of Carousel Theatre’ Teen Shakespeare Program get to learn this summer. In August 2009, 15 teens from across the Lower Mainland will tread the boards on Granville Island in a gothic retelling of Shakespeare’s Macbeth. The haunting tragedy of vaulting ambition in the castles of Scotland- a murdered king, evil witches, and a Scottish lord’s bloody rise to power!

Carousel Theatre’s Teen Shakespeare Program, now in its 19th summer, is an intensive 6-week program for teen actors (ages 13-18 years). Under the tutelage of a professional director, teen actors are led through an intensive 4-week rehearsal process of a 90 minute version of Shakespeare’s classic tragedy, and the program culminates in a full FREE production for the public- in the same time frame as a professional theatre production.

Macbeth will be showing at Performance Works Outdoor Stage, 1218 Cartwright Street, Granville Island.

Monday to Saturday from July 31st to August 15th at 7:30pm
2:00pm matinees on August 1st, 8th, and 15th.

Previews will be on July 31st at 7:30pm and August 1st at 2:00pm.

The performance is FREE!

However, there is limited seating, so please arrive early for the best seats. Bring a
blanket for when the sun goes down- it can get chilly near the water. This production is great for all ages, but please
keep in mind that there may be some scary parts.
