Immaturity, greed, lust and jealousy flourished in Ovid’s Metamorphosis. The gods indulged themselves in whatever tickled their senses, regardless of the consequences in the natural world. dirty white flips the powers that be from Ovid’s The Raven and The Crow, twisting it into a tale of surprising reversal. The dirt, chaos and love in the natural world marries with the pure white order of the higher heavens. Inhabitants: a God who plays, a Raven that obeys, Cora who sings, a Daw that spies and a Boy….. that changes everything. Lies abound. Result: a journey that slaps the foundations of belief and asks…what are we doing here?

Step Inside The Glass Box

What if everyone saw you as you see yourself in your wildest dreams?…
and what if you couldn’t get out?

Theatre Terrific is pleased to present its new work, The Glass Box, Feb 18-28 at Playwright’s Theatre Centre Studio, Granville Island. The Glass Box is a voyeuristic glimpse into the secret lives of people and their passions.

The Glass Box follows a 54-year-old wife and mother, a 23-year-old woman living with quadriplegia and a 32-year-old man with Down Syndrome who find themselves trapped in an off-beat talk show, and are given the chance to be the iconic figure of their fantasies. They answer dangerous questions with hilarious abandon, as Cleopatra unrolls from her carpet, Sophia Loren sways through her famous striptease, and Brad Pitt lands the big fish.

Director Joanna Garfinkel (co-director Letters from Lithuania) says, “I was very intrigued to take on this work. It’s an exciting, visceral and theatrical piece that lends a dramatic and humourous voice to people not often afforded it. It asks: What if you could be perceived as you are in your most secret – or wildest – fantasies? Eventually, these roles must crack and fall away, leaving both the characters and the audience changed.”

Theatre Terrific is a theatre company whose mission is to provide opportunities to transform lives through the power of theatre. They envision a world where the artistic voice of disabled artists is seen, heard, challenged and respected.
