Performers James Sanders & Bob Frazer tell us why we should go see

Skydive

Written by: Kevin Kerr

Starring: James Sanders and Bob Frazer

Directed by: Roy Surette & Steven Drover

Presented by: Realwheels

What would you risk to live out your dreams? In this gravity-defying comedy, two brothers tumbling at terminal velocity must untangle the threads of their dysfunctional relationship, long-abandoned dreams, and the Jungian interpretations of Madonna, Van Halen, and Corey Hart.

The newly conceived Skydive, originally commissioned from Realwheels for the 2007 PuSh Festival, features added scenes, imaginative sets and costumes, re-designed sound and lighting effects, plus fresh aerial choreography taking it to greater heights.

Written by Governor General’s Literary Award–winning playwright Kevin Kerr, Skydive is an action-adventure comedy that pushes our limits of perception to the breaking point. Defying gravity in theatre by using Sven Johansson’s ES Dance Instruments, Skydive literally raises the bar and makes a quadriplegic fly.

The original production of Skydive was an instant success with critics and audiences alike. The show garnered five Jessie Richardson Theatre Award nominations and the 2007 Award of Technical Merit from the Canadian Institute for Theatre Technology.

Realwheels is a professional theatre company founded in 2003 by James Sanders. Following James’ vision, the company set out to normalize disability through innovative storytelling. Realwheels’ goal is to create and produce world-class art that deepens the audience’s understanding of the disability experience and to provide a respectful and accurate representation of disability in the public sphere.
